There are large numbers of firms of Financial Advisers in the UK.
We feel that Templar Financial Planning is in the highest echelon of Financial Advisers in the UK for the following reasons:
Our Advisory Team:
- Our three Financial Planning Directors are all qualified at Advanced Financial Planning Level
- Our Advisers have combined Financial Planning experience in excess of 100 years.
- We are very fortunate to employ three Chartered Financial Planners in our management team (proportionally, very few UK advisers reach this high level qualification). Our clients can therefore be assured of receiving the very highest quality of financial planning advice.

02 - You are Independent Financial Advisers — what does this mean? read answer...
We do not represent, nor are we owned by any financial institution.
This means that we are entirely unbiased in the advice we give to our clients.
This means that we can (and do) choose from all Investment Managers, Pension Providers, Mortgage Lenders and any other financial institution that we wish to use.
As a Regulated firm of Financial Advisers, we provide financial solutions to our clients by accessing major institutions such as:
- Fidelity
- Merrill Lynch
- Standard Life
and many other institutions, less well known, but very successful and specialist in their own right, such as:
- Close Brothers Investment Limited
- Aurum
- RAB Capital

We feel that there are three main issues that all clients should consider when choosing a Financial Adviser:
- Quality of the Advice
- Quality of the Support
- A strong working Relationship
We feel that we are excellent in all these areas that our clients need.
04 - How do I pay for your services? read answer...
The “traditional” business model for Financial Advice is commission-based. This means that where we arrange financial transaction for our clients, the Financial Institution that we are using will pay Templar a commission, which in turn we use to cover our costs of running a Regulated Business.
This commission-based model doesn´t suit every client. For this reason, we also provide our services on a Fee Basis.
We offer various Fee Structures, depending on client needs — this can be time-costed (like a Lawyer/Accountant), agreed fixed-fee, retainer fees and also a hybrid arrangement with commission/fee.
We do not make any charge for initial meetings with our clients.
Once it is clear what a potential client needs from Templar, we can then decide how much time and resource is needed to provide this service. We will then make a formal proposal in relation to Commission/Fee options.
05 - How long has Templar been advising clients? read answer...
Templar Financial Planning started business on 1st April 1996, although the two Board Directors, Alan Leslie and Alan Marks, have each been advising clients for 20 years.

All our clients are recommended to meet us by other clients and by professional firms such as Lawyers, Accountants and Bankers.
